Dzi Appearance
They may have etched symbols composed of circles, ovals, square, waves (zig zags), stripes, lines, diamonds, circles, squares, waves, and stripes and various other natural symbolic patterns. The word bat means birth. The bat dzi works with all things having to do with birth and beginnings. The bat has excellent radar and sonar and can travel about easily, avoiding running into walls, trees and the like. This dzi always strives to keep things new, fresh and beginning mainly auspicious in marriage, having children, family happiness, new businesses, new house and etc. Where some dzi help with endings the bat strives always to begin. Dzi Motifs

The significance and functions of the dzi also vary with the number of symbols found on each . This also has a bearing on the nomenclature of each Tibetan dzi . For example, a dzi with one circle is called a 1-Eye Dzi and promotes wisdom or intelligence. However, a dzi with two circles is called a 2-Eyed Dzi and promotes the establishment of human relationships.

The symbols may be thought of as being akin to the individual letters of the alphabet. Combinations of symbols may therefore give rise to dzi with combined and deeper meanings and functions. For example, a dzi with a circle and a square totem is called the Earth Sky Door Dzi . This combination is said to bring balance and serenity in the order of life, and turn an individual's potentiality into actual vibrant and useful energy.


TIBETAN REAL Dzi

We are unable to obtain the whole process of hand-making dzi in Tibet (it is kept a secret and that is why the Tibetan original dzi are different from all others and can never be copied). The materials used are the highest grade of earth gems mainly Jadaite, Agate, Chalcedony, about 16 types of Tibetan minerals and unexplained crystals. The quality of these dzis are very high and in the Himalaya, locals grind them into powder for medical consumption and also mixed in paint for Thangkas and sacred statues. Some are used to adorn sacred statues and placed in the monastery for some time. Even after much persuasion, the Tibetans hesitantly told us that all authentic dzi have their eye and motives etched in with earth natural high heat and only the highest grade natural stone is used. No chemicals or foreign elements are used to make original Tibetan dzi.
